I just installed Windows 11 on a new drive, and my old drive is still connected as the F: drive. I'm wondering if I can simply transfer my entire user folder from F: to the same location in the new C: drive. Will that work or is there a better way to handle moving my user data?

You can't just copy the entire user folder over. Instead, it's better to manually transfer the specific folders you actually need, like your Documents, Desktop, Downloads, and Pictures. If you're using OneDrive, just log in again and it should sync your files from the cloud automatically. Just a heads up—your Downloads won't sync through OneDrive, so you'll need to handle those separately.
Yeah, copying over the entire user folder can cause issues. It’s safer to go into F:Users and pick out only the folders you want. Windows might warn you about permissions, but just click OK and it should sort that out for you. Avoid copying AppData all at once since that could mess things up if you aren’t careful.
So it’s best to only copy the important folders rather than the whole thing? Got it, thanks!
