I need some advice on optimizing my laptop storage. My laptop has a total of 1TB of SSD space divided into C drive (about 300 GB) and D drive (around 700 GB). Currently, my C drive is almost full while there's about 400 GB free on my D drive. I'm looking to take roughly 50 to 70 GB from D and add it to C. Is there a free method or built-in option to do this safely without losing any data or having to reinstall Windows? Thanks for any tips or tools you can recommend!

Have you tried moving other files or applications to D instead? For example, if you have games on Steam, there's a way to move those to free up C drive space. Just be careful with partition changes; it can be risky if you're not sure what you’re doing.
You might be able to do this! If both drives are on the same physical SSD, you can shrink the D drive using Windows Disk Management and then extend the C drive with the free space. However, this only works if the unallocated space is right next to C on the disk. If D comes after C, the built-in tools won’t let you do it without some adjustments. Using third-party tools can help, but make sure to back up your data first just to be safe.
Yes, it can definitely be done! You just need to shrink the D partition to create unallocated space and then expand C into that space. You can use free partition management tools like MiniTool Partition Wizard or AOMEI Partition Assistant. Just back up your important files before making any changes, as there's always a risk when adjusting partitions.
While it is possible, you need to be cautious, especially if you're not familiar with partition management. Use Windows Disk Management to shrink D, and then you'll need a tool to move the partitions around if necessary. Make sure everything is backed up—better safe than sorry!
