My parents recently got Samsung A05s phones, and they somehow locked them so that you need a password even to power the device off. This is preventing me from doing a factory reset, which I thought might help. I'm not very tech-savvy and I'm looking for some advice on how to bypass this password requirement. I've never encountered this kind of issue before, and I understand it's likely a security measure to avoid unauthorized resets, but I need some help figuring out how to handle it since the battery can't be removed either.

Just hold the power button down! Are you saying the battery can't be removed? What’s up with that?
More and more phones have these features to stop thieves from powering them off to keep tracking active. Holding the power and volume buttons should force a restart, but it's crucial to get into the right recovery mode for a factory reset. Just remember, if the phone is unlocked when you try to turn it off, it shouldn't ask for a password, which might help you out.
I had some success getting it to restart, but I still couldn't reach the reset options. Do you know any other combos that could help?
You can try forcing a restart by holding down the volume down and power buttons simultaneously. Once you see the Samsung logo, press volume up and power again to access the boot menu. Just a heads up, you might need to connect the phone to a PC to reach the boot screen. If that doesn't work, have you looked into Samsung's Find My Mobile? It can help you remotely unlock or reset the lock screen password.
I tried that method, but I got lost clicking around. Just make sure you have access to the owner's Google account details when resetting, or you might run into issues later.
I did manage to trigger something similar once, but I missed my chance and it got me out. Definitely not the best with this stuff!
A lot of Android phones need a password to shut down when the screen is locked. It’s a great safety feature to prevent theft. If the phone asks for a password when you try to turn it off, make sure the screen is unlocked first. That way, it won’t prompt you for a password.
I figured as much, but it’s really inconvenient for me right now. I get why they do it, but still!
The phone has a sealed battery, so there’s no way to pop it out. When you press the power button, it shows options to turn off or restart, but selecting them just brings me back to the password prompt.
