How Can I Upgrade from Windows Home to Windows Pro Without a Clean Install?

Hey folks, I recently had to replace my boot SSD and reinstalled Windows using a USB, opting for Windows Home since I wasn't sure what version I previously had. After getting everything set up, I noticed that my Windows is unlicensed. I discovered that my previous product key is for Windows Pro, but now that I have Windows Home installed, it won't accept the key. I've tried various methods to upgrade to Windows Pro without doing a clean install because I've put a lot of effort into setting up my computer. I'm looking for advice on how to upgrade in place from Windows Home to Pro without losing everything. Any suggestions?

Honestly, I think it might be easier to just go for a fresh install of Windows Pro. It’ll save you headaches down the road. You can still use the same USB installer like you did for Home.

Just so you know, all Windows installers are technically the same. The version that gets installed depends on the activation credentials you enter. It might just be best to perform a clean install using that same USB.

I totally understand wanting to keep everything. If you're struggling with that, consider disconnecting from the internet while using the upgrade key. That might just do the trick!

I get that, but when I try to install, I only see the option for a clean install of Windows Home since that’s what’s currently on there. I’d rather not wipe everything if possible.
