I'm new to PC gaming and recently purchased a setup with an Intel i5 14400, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 8GB, and 16GB DDR5 RAM. My main goal is to play games like Final Fantasy Remake/Rebirth and Cyberpunk 2077. While Final Fantasy VII Remake ran smoothly at 75fps on high settings, I've noticed significant performance issues with Rebirth, like slow texture loading and long scene transitions. I want to game at 1080p on high settings, and I'm considering upgrading my GPU or adding more RAM, but I'm not sure what to choose. Any advice would be appreciated!

Definitely check your temperatures; if your CPU is running hot, that can throttle performance too. Also, look into how many fans you have in your case and whether your CPU cooler is adequate. Balancing temp and power is key to smooth gaming!
First off, if your build doesn't already have an SSD, that should be your top priority for an upgrade. It makes a massive difference in load times and performance. After that, consider a 2x16GB kit of DDR5 RAM and a new GPU. As for specific graphics cards, a 12GB RTX 4070 could help, but the RX 7700 XT has also been recommended and might be worth considering depending on your budget.
Honestly, the i5 14400 and RTX 5050 are pretty underwhelming for today’s standards. You might want to look at upgrading your GPU first, but don't forget that if your games are installed on an old hard drive, you'll run into major lag and loading issues.
That makes sense! I realized I put my games on the wrong drive too. Switching to an SSD is definitely on my to-do list.

I agree with getting an SSD first! I used to have the same issues, and switching to an SSD improved everything. Just make sure you're moving your games there!
