Hey everyone! I'm using an iPad and an iPhone that are both signed in with the same Apple ID. They're syncing fine, but I recently noticed that all the photos from my iPad started downloading to my iPhone, which is really cramping my storage space. The iPad runs on iPadOS 14, and my iPhone is on iOS 17. Is there a way to keep uploading photos from both devices to iCloud, but prevent them from automatically downloading on the other device? I would also like to keep the original size of the photos on the devices themselves.

You should consider updating both of your devices first. Then, after that, enable iCloud storage optimization. This should help you avoid the problem of unwanted downloads to your iPhone.
So there's no way to keep the originals on the device while preventing them from downloading on another device?
