I have an older Samsung TV from around 2015 that I found outside, and it's been working great for me. However, I'm trying to figure out how to use a USB drive or an SSD with it to play files directly. I've plugged in some external drives, but nothing shows up. I'd like to avoid using my computer or HDMI whenever I can. I also have a Roku connected for streaming, but I'm just looking for a simpler solution. Can anyone share tips or tricks for getting my TV to read USB drives?

Most Samsung TVs from around that time should work with USB drives, but since yours is a hospitality model, it might have limited features. Check if there's a Media Play button on your remote—it's often required to access USB content. Also, older models might have specific file format requirements; try using MP4 or AVI. It might also help to consult the TV's manual for detailed instructions.
You might want to check out your TV's manual online; I found a useful site for Samsung models. Just remember, the 550 Series may not support many formats—JPEG and MP3s should work, but videos might need certain codecs. Keep it simple, and best of luck!
That's good to know! I love digging into old tech manuals; they sometimes have hidden gems!

Yeah, I had a similar issue, but my remote had a Media button. If you don't have that, it could be tricky since hospitality TVs can be less flexible.
