Hey everyone! I'm trying to use my TV as a monitor for gaming by connecting my laptop via HDMI. The issue I'm facing is that when I close my laptop screen, it loses connection to the TV and goes to sleep. I usually connect my laptop to a monitor without any problem, so I feel like I might be missing a setting or something. Any tips to make this work would be appreciated!

Have you tried using projector mode? Just press the Windows key + P together, and choose 'Extend' or 'Second screen only.' This should help you out!
If those options don't work, just turn your laptop away from you so you don’t see the screen and keep it open for better cooling. Also, dim the brightness to save battery while you're gaming.
There’s usually a setting in the display options that prevents the screen from turning off when the lid is closed. Just a reminder, my laptop needs to be charging to keep the connection stable, too.
You might want to check your power settings. Go to the Control Panel and switch to small icons to find 'Power Options.' There, select 'Choose what happens when you close the lid.' Make sure you set it to 'Do nothing' while on battery. It’s likely that you have your laptop plugged in when using a monitor, but disconnected in front of the TV.
Double-check your display settings. Make sure it's set to extend the display rather than duplicating it. It’s also important that your laptop is plugged in; sometimes it won't stay connected if it's just on battery power.
