I currently have a dual-GPU system with full AMD support running Windows, largely thanks to a software called Lossless Scaling that I've built my setup around. However, I'm tired of Windows and planning to switch to LMDE 6. I'm curious to know how I can make use of my dual-GPU setup on Linux since Lossless Scaling isn't an option there. I've only thought of using local LLMs, but I'm eager to find out if there's a way to offload workloads to the second GPU for better performance.

Unfortunately, dual GPU gaming doesn't work as effectively on Linux as it does on Windows, so your second GPU might seem like a waste. However, you can use something called 'gamescope' which offers a kind of scaling, albeit without frame generation. Despite the challenges, you can still run a local LLM or even set up a Windows VM and pass the second GPU to it, allowing you to use both GPUs effectively within that environment.
So, is gamescope the best alternative? Sounds like a bit of a workaround.
