I recently had a water incident with my MacBook, and now it won't turn on at all. Instead of spending money on repairs for a device that's over a decade old, I decided to sell it for parts. However, I'm worried because I have a lot of sensitive information stored on the laptop, like bank statements and W-2 forms, which I can't access without being able to log in. Is there a method to completely wipe the memory of my MacBook even though it's not operational?

Considering how old the MacBook is, you should be able to remove the hard drive pretty easily and physically destroy it to secure your data. What model do you have? That'll help figure out how to proceed.
You might want to try using 'Target Disk' mode if you have another Mac available. It allows you to connect two Macs and access the drive on the non-working one, but it requires the dead Mac to at least have some power functionality.
