How Crucial is Matched RAM in My Build?

I'm working on a build with a Ryzen 7-7700 and a 4070, and I'm using parts from a prebuilt system. The prebuilt came with a single 16GB Team T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 stick. My motherboard is the Asus B650 AXii. I'm having trouble finding another 16GB stick from the same brand. Can I mix and match with a different 16GB RAM stick, or do I need to sell my existing one and buy a new 32GB set of 2x16GB sticks?

Honestly, I'd recommend getting a full set of 2x16GB to avoid potential issues. Trying to mix different brands can lead to instability and a lot of wasted time trying to troubleshoot RAM problems.

Yep! I had a similar experience. It's just not worth the hassle when you can start fresh with a matched set.

You'll likely be okay mixing them, but keep in mind that you'll be limited by the slower stick's speed. Plus, finding similar frequency and latency is key to stability. DDR5 kits are mostly sold as 2x16GB sets, so a single upgrade can be a hassle.

Mixing RAM can be a bit tricky. While there's a decent chance your setup will work with a different 16GB stick, it can limit your memory speed and overall performance. If you want the best compatibility, you should try to find a stick with similar timings to the one you already have.

Yeah, it's usually safer to go with matched pairs for optimal performance. Otherwise, you might risk some headaches!
