I recently bought a GTX 1080 Ti, but I started getting screen artifacts right after connecting it. Out of about 30 attempts, it only booted to Windows a couple of times, showing horizontal lines and black squares. After battling the issue for two weeks, I decided to mess with MSI Afterburner one last time. I undervolted and underclocked the GPU, but I also cranked the fan speed up to 100%. To my surprise, it began booting normally, and after some time, it performed better under stress. Now, it's stable at stock speeds and normal fan settings. I'm puzzled about how this happened. Could adjusting the fans have caused a rapid temperature change that reseated something? What could have caused my GPU's drastic recovery?

Did you just put your GPU through some kind of physio? It’s wild that it started working after all that!
That is definitely an odd situation. When I had a similar experience, I noticed that by maxing out the fan speed, it actually reduced power to the core, making it a bit more stable. Try keeping an eye on your clock speeds in case it needs adjustments later. Just be careful messing with it too much, as it could stop cooperating!
Actually, I'm back to normal fan speeds now, and all the issues seem to have vanished. It feels awesome, but I’m still a bit anxious about it coming back.

Maybe I should open a shop; this skill is too good to waste!
