I'm trying to resolve a Windows boot loop issue on my Dell Inspiron, and I need some help adding my external hard drive to the boot options. It prompts me to enter an 'option name,' but I'm not sure what I should put there. I found various suggestions online, so I'm looking for some clear direction on this.

You can change the boot order by entering the BIOS settings. Just restart your laptop and keep pressing F2 or F12 as soon as you see the Dell logo. This will take you to the boot menu where you can set up your external hard drive.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to boot from an external hard drive?

If your external drive is set up to be bootable, it should get added to the boot options automatically. As for the 'Option name,' you can name it anything you like, but the 'Boot file' is where you should focus your attention since that's what it actually needs to boot from.
