I'm looking for some advice on how to connect two monitors to my laptop so that I can use both displays with different applications. I've seen some options on Amazon for docking stations, but I'm concerned that some might require the monitors to be mirrored instead of allowing me to extend my desktop. As an engineer, I need something that's fast but doesn't have to be overly complicated. Any recommendations?

I recommend using a USB-C hub with HDMI ports if your laptop supports it. After connecting, just select the 'extend' option in display settings and you’re all set to drag apps wherever you like! Just a heads up, extending displays will allow for different content on each, while mirroring just duplicates your screen. So, make sure to choose the right setting!
I’ve got a similar setup with my laptop. I use a USB-C to HDMI adapter along with the built-in HDMI port, and it works perfectly for running multiple applications.
