I'm a total newbie trying to upgrade my old Windows XP laptop to Linux Mint 22 "Wilma" xfce. I've managed to download the ISO file along with the verification files, but I've hit a snag. When I try to verify the files using the Linux Mint tool, I always get the error "The sums file could not be downloaded. Check the URL." I've tried this multiple times with files from different sources and redone the steps from scratch, but no success. Can someone help me understand how to create a bootable USB? I'm using a Dell Latitude D820 for this.

You might want to set up a Ventoy USB stick. It’s a great tool that allows you to put multiple live images on one USB. Check out their website for Windows instructions—just follow that to get it working. Once you boot the stick, you'll be able to choose which ISO to load. It's super convenient!
Have you tried using the `sha256sum` command instead of the Mint verification tool? It’s pretty straightforward and can give you a direct checksum comparison without the hassle of downloading anything. Just open a terminal, navigate to your downloaded files, and run it on the ISO.
I haven't tried that yet, but I think I can manage it. Thanks for the tip!
Would I need a Windows computer to set that up? I’m only using Linux on my Dell.
