Hey everyone! I'm working with a Dell machine running Windows Server 2016 as I'm learning about Active Directory and server management. Recently, I tried to add more storage by enabling another SATA interface, but after doing so, the server wouldn't boot and displayed an error stating the disk wasn't found in the RAID configuration. Upon checking the BIOS, I noticed that RAID was set to ON. I tried to disable it and switched to AHCI mode, but then I got a "no boot device found" error when I restarted the server. Is there a way to disable RAID without formatting the disks? I saw in the Server Manager under File and Storage that the first and second disks are identified as RAID Bus Type.

Keep in mind that the T5500 has a fake firmware RAID that only supports RAID1, so adding another disk might not be feasible unless you adjust your RAID setup. Dell tends to have a lot of their systems come with RAID enabled, possibly for Optane or OS mirroring.
RAID configurations change how data is stored on the drives, so I've never seen a way to switch from RAID to AHCI without reformatting the drives. If you're looking to add a drive, you might consider adding it to your existing RAID array instead for now.
