How do I fix my iPad stuck on the iTunes screen?

I've got an iPad 4 that's been stuck on the iTunes recovery screen for what feels like forever—maybe like 6 or 8 years? I've tried using iTunes to get it working again, but I keep hitting error code 40. I also attempted to use 3uTools but it got stuck around 20% and just gave up. I checked out FixGo, but it requires a subscription, and AnyFix is also behind a paywall. Please, I'm begging for help to recover my device!

Have you tried following the troubleshooting steps on Apple's support page? It might give you some new ideas on how to fix this. Just a heads-up though, next time, try to keep your post a bit more concise to make it easier for folks to help out. Good luck!

I can relate! I didn’t get any of those error codes. I just plugged my tablet into my PC to back it up before updating, thinking it would be a casual day. Next thing I know, it goes into recovery mode and it all went downhill from there! Huge lesson learned for me.

I had similar issues and ended up reaching out to Apple support. If you're on Windows, make sure to use a good quality USB-A to USB-C data cable. Wasted so much time using a USB-C to USB-C cable that didn’t work! Also, don’t forget to try using the Apple devices app on Windows for managing your iPad.
