I think I've downloaded some malware when I installed a game. A suspicious file named 'gallery.exe' keeps popping up on my laptop — it has an icon similar to the game on one device and like WinRAR on another. This file starts up automatically whenever I boot up my laptop. I managed to disable it using Task Manager and deleted it manually from the AppData/roaming/startup folder, but it reappears after restarting. I've run scans with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, both of which found no threats. I've followed various steps advised by ChatGPT, but nothing has worked. Can anyone suggest a solid solution?

You might want to try Norton Eraser; I'm not sure how effective it is these days, though. Another option could be rolling back to an earlier Windows point with System Restore, but that might not fix the issue entirely. For future protection, consider creating a monthly backup image of your Windows setup to easily revert back in case you face a similar situation.
It sounds like this malware is reinstalling itself, possibly through a scheduled task. If that’s the case, the safest bet is to shut down your PC, secure all accounts you’ve accessed from it using another trustworthy device, and then perform a complete wipe and fresh install of Windows. That’s pretty much the only way to ensure it’s completely gone.
