I'm looking to install a new Linux distro and I want to make sure I don't lose any of my data. I already have a separate partition for my /home folder, so I'm wondering if that should be sufficient for this process. Also, if anyone could point me to a helpful video tutorial, that would be great!

Just a heads-up: you might have important files outside of /home that you want to keep, like configurations in /etc or files in /root. When you install the new distro, I suggest using a different username to avoid conflicts with your old configurations. Once you're set up, you can transfer over files from the old /home as needed. Good luck!
It is definitely possible to install a new distro without losing your data, especially since you have a separate /home partition. Just be sure NOT to format that partition during the installation. However, it’s easy to make mistakes, so having a backup is a good idea. For peace of mind, you might want to invest in an external hard drive for storing backups before you proceed. And yes, definitely find a video tutorial for a visual guide!
Totally agree on the backup! It's such a lifesaver just in case.
Check out this guide on manual drive partitioning. It should help you apply the right settings regardless of which distro you're using. Here's the link: [Sysguides Installation](https://sysguides.com/install-fedora-42-with-snapshot-and-rollback-support). Make sure to watch a couple of video tutorials as well for additional clarity!
Thanks for this! I’ll definitely look it over.
Good point! I’ll be careful with that part.
