I'm trying to switch my HP Pavilion 15 laptop from RST to AHCI mode, but every time I save the change, it reverts back to RST. I've noticed that other settings save just fine, so it's only the AHCI setting that doesn't stick. I've already tried the safe mode method and made some registry edits as suggested by Ubuntu, but nothing seems to hold. Any advice on how to make this change permanent?

It sounds like your BIOS might not be saving the settings correctly. Sometimes this can happen if the BIOS is outdated. Have you tried updating your BIOS? Also, make sure you're doing this change while the laptop is fully powered on and not just in sleep mode. Sometimes saving the settings while in the right state can help the changes stick.
Just to clarify, are you having the issue in the BIOS/UEFI? If that's the case, it might be a matter of accessing the right options or double-checking that you're saving after making the changes. If it’s the Windows OS, there might be a different issue going on.
