How do I permanently remove Avast Antivirus from my computer?

I recently logged into my computer and found Avast Antivirus installed, but I never downloaded it myself. Initially, I thought it was a virus, but it turned out to be legitimate. I already have other antivirus protection, so I decided to uninstall Avast. However, I keep receiving annoying messages like "YOU'RE BEING TRACKED BY APPS" and "YOUR COMPUTER IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER OF VIRUSES." While I may be exaggerating a bit, I know my computer runs fine, and my Norton Antivirus indicates everything is okay. I've tried uninstalling Avast using Revo Uninstaller at least three times, yet it keeps coming back. Sometimes, its shortcut even reappears on my desktop. What can I do to get rid of it permanently?

You might also want to boot your computer into safe mode. From there, try uninstalling Avast again and use a tool like Autoruns to see what programs are starting up with your computer. Look for any unknown or unverified processes and remove them if you're unsure. If it keeps reappearing, let us know; we might be able to pinpoint the issue better.

There's a chance you’re dealing with a Trojan that’s hiding behind the Avast name. If you suspect this, make sure to check recent downloads or files you might not recognize. You can even explore the file directory directly if needed. If you're still seeing issues after these steps, it might be worth resetting your system.

First, it sounds like you might have more than just Avast on your system. Sometimes, viruses can disguise themselves as antivirus software. I'd recommend running a full scan with MalwareBytes, which is free and might help identify what's truly wrong. Check for any suspicious files or processes that could be causing these pop-ups too.
