I've been using a MacBook Air M1 for my daily tasks, which include web browsing, CAD, video editing, and coding. Although I built my first PC in 2020, I ended up not using it much and gave it to my dad after selling my graphics card. Recently, I've been having storage issues as I'm down to the last 20GB on my Mac, and it feels like the storage and RAM prices are pretty ridiculous. I love my Mac but I'm also interested in building another PC. I'm not really into gaming except for some Civ 6, but I'd like a machine that can manage a couple of 4K displays and my daily tasks. I'm unsure about transferring back to a PC—what should I consider before making a switch?

I'm not a fan of my Mac either, but given the current storage and RAM prices, I'd say stick with it. Switching seems risky at this time when components can be quite expensive.
You know, Windows isn’t all bad if you get an LTSC version. It runs smoothly without all the extra junk. But just keep in mind, switching right now might not be the best call, especially with prices being high.
If you're considering a PC, it really depends on what software you use. I built a mid-range PC for around $900, and it outperforms my Mac. You might find used parts to save some money, especially if you don't need top-tier components. Just remember, Macs handle casual tasks really well, and if you’re not gaming heavily, it might be worth staying put for now.
Honestly, with the current prices for RAM and storage, it might be better to stick with your Mac for now. Unless you really need something specific that a PC can offer, your Mac is pretty solid for casual use.
Is RAM really that expensive right now? It seems like my 256GB fills up so fast with programs!

Thanks for the advice! I might explore second-hand parts to keep the costs down.
