I'm reviewing a report with ChatGPT, and I've uploaded the PDF for it to assist me. However, ChatGPT keeps generating sentences that aren't in the document, like suggesting improvements or transitions that I never mentioned. For instance, it often suggests lines like, 'This raises the following research question...' which I don't even use! I've been trying to correct it and have specifically instructed it to stop inventing or summarizing my text, yet it keeps doing so. I'm not in a project folder, so it shouldn't be pulling text from somewhere else, plus I'm using the latest engine version. Any tips?

I've noticed that ChatGPT sometimes tries too hard to be helpful, which can lead to it making up things. If you tell it to focus solely on what's in your text and cut down on trying to please you, it might perform better. Just use clear instructions and set boundaries.
How long is your document? I had a similar issue, but breaking down larger documents into shorter paragraphs seemed to help. Also, creating new chat windows for different sections can prevent ChatGPT from going off-topic.
That makes sense, but then I’ll have to paste everything again. When I refer back to something specific, it still starts making stuff up.
