How Do I Start Building a Web App with .NET and React?

Hey everyone! I haven't programmed in 8 years and I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm particularly interested in creating a web app using a .NET backend and a React frontend. I know that these should be two separate projects that communicate via an API. I usually work in desktop apps with C# in Visual Studio, where I can compile and check my code frequently. However, I'm confused about how to do this with a web app since the backend and frontend are separate. What would be the best way to test and ensure both ends are working correctly while I develop them? Any step-by-step guides or tips would be really appreciated!

A good approach is to use ASP.NET. Microsoft offers a detailed tutorial on integrating React with .NET which you can find [here](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/client-side/spa/react?view=aspnetcore-9.0&tabs=visual-studio). If you decide to keep the projects separate, you can compile and run both applications simultaneously to see how they interact.

Thanks for the answer and the link! I really appreciate it. What if I don't want to use Visual Studio for both projects?
