Hey everyone! I've been using a 100 GB SSD for my Windows 10 install, but it's way too small and keeps getting filled up with software and game saves, which I can't always move. I've got a spare 2 TB SSD (F:) that I want to use as my new boot drive. What's the best way to transfer everything from my current C: drive to this new larger drive? I'd prefer not to have to format the F: drive if possible, but I can do that if needed. Additionally, will I face any problems with programs still trying to save to C: afterwards? How do I change the drive letter if necessary?

You could use cloning software like Macrium Reflect Free or EaseUS to clone your C drive to the new F drive, but keep in mind that it will wipe the F drive. Once cloned, you can change the default save locations for various folders by right-clicking on them, going to Properties, and then the Location tab to point them to your new drive. Just note that some app files will still go to C: regardless of where you install the program.
Unfortunately, you can't just move your Windows install from one drive to another with files already on it. You’ll need to format the new drive first before cloning or reinstalling. If your PC can run Windows 11, I recommend a fresh installation on the new SSD, then transfer your important files from the old one before wiping it clean.
So, after the clone, can I make the new drive the 'C' drive? I’d love to keep AppData and similar files on the boot drive while having extra space.
