I'm considering making the switch from Windows 10 to Linux, but I'm a bit lost on where to start. I've heard a lot of people say Linux is better, but I'm curious about the reasons behind that. Also, how would I go about downloading Linux and replacing Windows 10 with it? Any tips or steps I should follow?

You could make things easier for yourself by getting a new hard drive if that’s an option. This way, you can install Linux on the new drive while keeping Windows intact. That way, if you don’t enjoy Linux, you still have your original setup. Remember that there’s such a wide variety of Linux distributions available since it’s open source. Once you choose one, follow the installation instructions on their website for creating a bootable USB stick and then install from there.

Before diving in, make sure to back up all your important files — things like photos and documents. You don't need to worry about programs since you'll be starting fresh. It's good to have at least two backups, so consider using cloud storage too. Next, prepare a USB drive with a tool called Ventoy. Once you install and run Ventoy on the USB, it allows you to boot from it without needing to format it again. After that, download the Linux ISO file and transfer it to the USB. Finally, boot from the USB and follow the installation wizard to set it up.

First off, think about which programs you currently use and check if they have Linux versions or alternatives. You might want to watch a few tutorial videos to guide you on which Linux distribution to choose; for beginners, options like Linux Mint and Ubuntu are user-friendly. If you’re unsure about completely replacing Windows, start by backing up your files. A USB drive and an ISO file of your chosen distribution, along with a flashing tool, are essential. A live environment can also be a great way to test how Linux runs on your system before installing.
