I've been putting off upgrading our basic VPN Gateway IP addresses because I'm really struggling to understand the documentation. Our reseller support hasn't been able to provide much help either. Microsoft is retiring the basic SKU public IP addresses after September 30, and I've already migrated all our VMs and other resources. The only items left are multiple virtual network gateways, which are all using the basic SKU VPN gateways with basic SKU public IPs. I can't find any clear documentation on how to upgrade these IP addresses. Does anyone have any experience with this upgrade process?

Just a heads-up – the upgrade button is usually found on the Gateway itself, not directly on the IP address settings. I went through it last week, but I did have to clear my browser cache for the button to show up.
To upgrade your IPs to Standard, make sure they're set to Static first, and then you should see a little banner at the top of the IP overview page that will guide you through the upgrade. It’s a pretty straightforward process.
I faced the same issue recently, and it was tough to find clear documentation. If you navigate to your Virtual Network Gateway that’s using the Basic IP Address and head into the Configuration menu, you'll find a Migrate tab that can help you out. Just validate that migration is possible for your setup, and then you can start the process. There might be around 15 minutes of downtime, though. If 15 minutes is too long, you’d have to create a new Virtual Network Gateway and set it up from scratch.
