I'm a beginner looking to upgrade my storage by adding an SSD to my PC. Currently, I have a 1TB HDD connected to the M.2 port under the CPU and I'm considering switching it to the secondary M.2 port located below the GPU to install a new SSD in the main M.2 port. My goal is to maximize SSD performance. However, I'm a bit confused about the steps involved in this process. I've read that I need to copy my operating system from the HDD to the SSD, but I'm unsure how to do this while booting from the HDD in the main port. Will moving the HDD to the secondary port allow the PC to boot from it without any issues? I'm worried about making mistakes since I'm not very experienced with PC upgrades, and I would appreciate any guidance to help me out.

Actually, if your drive is in the M.2 slot, it's not an HDD but rather an SSD already! You can check what it is in Windows Task Manager. If you find that it's an NVMe SSD, you’re in good shape. Just to clarify, what kind of SSD do you plan to put in the main slot?

You're right, I checked and it says it's an SSD (NVMe) in Disk 0. Now I'm trying to figure out which SSD to install in the main port. I bought a SN7100 Gen 4 1TB—does it matter which SSD goes in the main port?
