How Does ChatGPT Handle Memory?

Hey everyone! I've been wondering about how ChatGPT remembers things. When I go to Personalization > Manage Memory, are those the only memories it has? Or is there a chance there are others that aren't listed? Thanks for any insights!

ChatGPT recently got an update that allows it to recall information from older chats, which is handy! These memories are pulled up on demand. If you check your memory settings, look for a toggle for reference chat history. If you see that, great! You've got the new memory upgrade. If not, you might still be on the old system.

Yes I see the reference chat toggle switch. And thank you, I greatly appreciate your reply!

I discovered the memory feature recently as well. There’s a limit to how long the chat can go before it ends, which can be frustrating! I usually take screenshots before deleting chats to keep important info. I’ve heard that if you use a PC, you can export your data as an HTML file to see all your past interactions with the AI, which is super useful for saving info you want it to remember.
