I'm trying to figure out how much of an upgrade I'd get by switching from a setup with a 7900XTX GPU, i7-12700K CPU, and a Z690A motherboard to one with a 5080 GPU, Intel Core Ultra 7 265K CPU, and a Z890 motherboard. Both systems will have 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 6000 MHz and 2TB SSDs. Is it worth making the switch?

What are you using the PC for?
Honestly, the performance improvement isn't going to be huge. If you look up comparisons between the 7900XTX and the 5080 on YouTube, you'll see that they're pretty close in performance.
But what about the upgraded CPU and motherboard? Would that change things?
Honestly, I’d steer clear of the 265K for gaming. It’s part of the 2xx series Intel CPUs, which aren't really optimized for it. Between your current setup with the 12700K and the 7900XTX, I'd say it's a no-brainer to stick with that.
I can either upgrade to the new setup or keep what I have. I'm really curious about how significant the performance increase would be.
Primarily gaming, and I have a 21:9 3440x1440 monitor.
