I'm new to PC gaming and just transitioned from console to building my own rig. I built a PC with an AMD 7800x3d CPU, a 240mm AIO cooler, 32GB of 6400 DDR5 RAM, and an RX 9070 GPU. I realized after the fact that while the CPU is top-notch, the GPU might not be as powerful in comparison. Do you think my setup has longevity? Will I need to upgrade the GPU for future games like Elder Scrolls 6?

Realistically, it could last you around 4-6 years depending on how demanding future games get and your preferences for settings. If you’re fine running games at lower settings, you'll extend its lifespan even longer. Just remember, regular maintenance helps too!
Just to add, it's not about future-proofing but rather having a sensible upgrade path. The 7800x3d will serve you well, and you can easily upgrade the GPU later. Don't sweat it too much; enjoy the journey!
Thanks! I really appreciate all the insights—definitely makes me feel better about my build!
You might be worrying too much! The RX 9070 is a solid GPU for now, and while you may ultimately want an upgrade down the line, it should hold up well for several years if you're okay with medium settings and 60 FPS in most games. Plus, when the time comes, swapping in a newer GPU can give your system a nice boost without needing a whole new build.
I definitely need to manage my expectations! This is all pretty overwhelming for a first-timer, but it's good to know I can upgrade later.
As long as you keep the machine well-maintained and clean, it could last indefinitely for your non-demanding games. Just remember that while new hardware offers amazing specs, it doesn't mean you have to upgrade every time something new comes out. Enjoy your gaming!
Thanks for the encouragement! I think I’ll focus more on enjoying the games rather than just keeping up with the latest tech.
In the gaming world, it’s more about your actual needs rather than just specs. The 7800x3d paired with the RX 9070 should work well for now, particularly if you're not pushing for 4K gaming. Ensure your PSU is adequate for any potential GPU upgrade down the line, and you'll be good to go!
Good call on checking the PSU! That's something I hadn't really thought about.
I appreciate the practical advice! I'll keep an eye on my settings and upgrade if needed.
