How Long Does It Really Take to Master Web Development?

I've been diving into JavaScript for the past three months, and I'm also using Git to upload simple projects like a drum machine, regex sandbox, and a quiz app. My goal is to really master JavaScript, but I keep seeing people online claiming they became full-stack developers in just a few months. I haven't even started with React, Node.js, or databases yet. What tips do you have for beginners like me to speed up the learning process? I'd really appreciate your insights!

Mastering web development is more of a lifelong journey than just a stop at the mastery goal. It’s definitely about cultivating a growth mindset. The most important thing is to learn continuously and challenge yourself. You'll know you're progressing when you can easily discuss what features can or cannot be implemented.

Three months isn't very long, especially compared to the traditional education route where it might take 1-4 years to feel ready for a job. A realistic timeline is usually much longer than just a couple of months.

"How long does it take" really depends on your own pace and how deep you want to go. Keep building more complex projects and challenge yourself. Most employers are looking for TypeScript more than just plain JavaScript these days. If you show you can tackle bigger challenges, you'll stand out!

It’s only been a day for me since I started learning JavaScript! How much are you studying each day? It might help to find a routine that works for you.

Honestly, the timeline varies a lot. Back when I started, around 25 years ago, it took me about 3 to 4 months to get a solid grip, but today there's just so much information to sift through. My advice? Focus on practical projects and avoid falling into the trap of useless content. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, but try to push your limits continuously!
