I recently had my Microsoft account hacked through a Minecraft scam, and now I can't access it. The hacker changed my email and everything, including the two-factor authentication. It's been over 60 hours since I submitted a recovery request, and I chatted with a Microsoft support agent about 10 hours ago. They told me I should wait 24-72 hours for the request, but another email indicated it could take up to 5 days since it's being escalated to a higher support team. I'm curious if anyone here has experience with account recovery and how long it took to get their account back.

Unfortunately, if the security settings have been changed by the hacker, it makes recovery much tougher. Microsoft may not be able to restore access if there’s no way to verify you're the original owner.
It really varies for each person. Microsoft doesn't have a set timeframe since every case is different. They may take longer if there’s a lot to investigate. Just be patient and keep an eye on your email for updates!
I get where you're coming from! Just keep in mind that proving ownership can sometimes make a difference, but it also depends on how the account was compromised.
