How Many Skills Should I Learn Before Applying for Jobs?

I'm looking at job listings that ask for eight specific skills, but I only have a solid grasp on Python and SQL. The other skills listed are Docker, Kafka, and Spark, which I don't know. I'm trying to figure out a realistic timeline for myself as I aim to move from junior to senior skill levels. Should I:

1. Learn all six missing skills over about six months?
2. Just focus on the top two missing skills for a month?
3. Go ahead and apply for jobs, learning the rest on the job?

I really need an honest timeline for this transition.

It's definitely possible to apply even if you don't meet all the skill requirements. Keep in mind, those job listings often reflect the team's tech stack rather than a strict hiring requirement. Many team members pick up new tools and languages after they're hired. So yeah, if you know Python and SQL, consider applying and learn the other skills as you go! Your plan seems solid for breaking it down into what you can manage before the interview and what to tackle after getting hired.

Whoa, that changes everything! So job postings reflect what the team knows and not what they expect from juniors? That makes me feel a lot better about applying with just Python and SQL, focusing on Docker and other tools later!
