I'm curious about the costs associated with using LLM APIs as a solo developer. Are there others out there facing high bills like I am? I'm looking for insights into what kind of monthly expenses people typically incur and whether these costs are impacting business margins.

One of my teammates spends about $200 a month on Claude. Seems a bit steep, but I guess it depends on what you're using it for!
I started at around $150/month but figured out some cost-control strategies to bring it down to $25-40. Things like caching responses and using cheaper models for simple tasks really helped. It’s all about being smart with when and how you’re using the APIs. Others seem to pile on the costs by treating LLMs like databases, which isn’t ideal!
That’s great advice! I've got to start caching more, it seems.
I just pay $20 a month for the Cursor subscription. I mostly stick to simpler models to manage costs and only use the advanced ones when absolutely necessary.
I’ve been using ChatGPT for $20 a month too, and it’s more than enough for my coding needs. I'm not looking to replace my brain, just need some clever assistance when I get stuck!
I've noticed some solo developers spend between $20 and $200. It's worth noting that services like OpenAI and Anthropic often take a loss, so they're subsidizing costs right now. Who knows what will happen when they try to turn a profit!

That seems high! Is that typical? I wonder how people are managing those costs.
