I'm almost done building my PC — just need to pick out some fans and RAM. I'm trying to figure out how much CFM (cubic feet per minute) I should be looking for in fans without overspending on features that won't make a noticeable difference. Has anyone upgraded to higher CFM fans? Did you notice a temperature change or any performance benefit?

Keep in mind, static pressure and the RPM of fans are also crucial stats to look at. A 140mm fan can often provide more airflow compared to a 120mm fan at a lower noise level.
While CFM is important, don’t forget about static pressure and noise levels. Some fans, like the Arctic P12 Pro, can be loud at their max speed since they can reach 3000 RPM, which is faster than many standard fans. Look into testing that compares fans at similar noise levels for a clearer view. Generally, if all else is equal, then sure, more CFM is better, but it's just one factor.
CFM measures the airflow of a fan at full speed, but most people don't run their fans at max, mostly due to noise concerns. For usual builds, most modern fans do a great job at airflow. Just pick the fans that you like since unless you have specific needs, the specs don’t matter that much.
Are you focusing on case fans? It’s tough to recommend without knowing more about your setup like whether you're going air or liquid cooling. But typically, higher CFM fans let you run them slower while still pushing a lot of air.
