I'm using a 2TB SSD primarily filled with old portable games, ISOs, and various files that I don't actively change or update. I'm wondering how much free space I actually need to leave on it. Currently, I have about 180GB free and would like to use at least 100GB of that. Is 80GB of free space enough for my needs, considering that I'm mainly using the SSD for reading files?

You really don’t need any free space if you're only reading from it. If you're not planning to write anything new, you can fill up your disk as much as you want. Just keep in mind that sometimes, having a bit of space can help with file management and system efficiency, but it’s not strictly necessary.
While it’s not a huge issue on SSDs compared to HDDs, if you're working with files that may need to write some data, like game saves, it's worth keeping a little space free to avoid fragmentation. Just having a small buffer, like 10GB, could keep things running smoothly. But for your read-only purpose, 80GB should do you well!
In my experience, as long as you're not saving new files or making changes, you could be fine with about 5GB free. That should cover any temporary files or caching needs from the games. So, yeah, 80GB should definitely be enough in your situation!

Does fragmentation really affect SSDs in the same way it does on HDDs?
