I'm looking for advice on the PSU wattage for my computer build. Here are my specs: CPU is a 9850x3d, GPU is a 9070xt, I'm using three 2TB M.2 SSDs for storage, and I have 32GB of DDR5 RAM, all on an ATX B650M motherboard. I currently have a 750W PSU, but I'm wondering if I should upgrade to an 850W or if the 750W is sufficient for my setup. How can I tell if my PSU isn't enough?

The 750W should be enough, especially with a quality PSU. It’s good to have some overhead, but with a reputable brand, you might not have to worry as much. Just ensure it’s a decent model; cheaper brands can cause issues down the line, especially at higher loads.
AMD suggests a minimum of 850 watts for the 9850X3D and 9070XT combination. It’s better to have a bit of room to prevent your PSU from being overworked. Ideally, you want a PSU that's at least 80% efficient, running close to that 50% load for optimal performance. I've found that going for 1000W is even better for ensuring long-term stability, especially as you upgrade in the future.
Your current 750W PSU should be enough for your build, as the total wattage under maximum load is estimated around 565 watts. You can use tools like PCPartPicker to get a good estimate by inputting your system specs. Typically, it's recommended to have about 200 watts over the maximum load for some breathing room, but that might not always be necessary. Just keep an eye on your temperatures and system performance before making any rash decisions!
I disagree with the 200-overload advice. Keeping the PSU load around 50% of its total capacity is more efficient. Going above that can lead to overheating and reduced lifespan of the components. It's similar to cars; pushing too much stress can make them less efficient.
Honestly, 750W should be fine for your setup. Just monitor your system load and see if you're approaching the limits. If you notice issues, consider undervolting your GPU to keep everything cooler and more efficient!
Make sure to check the model of your motherboard and GPU. Some models of the 9070XT can draw a lot more power, especially the overclocked variants, which can go close to 600 watts under load. If you plan on overclocking your GPU, I’d suggest a quality 850W PSU at a minimum. Also, take a look at a PSU Tier List to find a reliable model.
I have an Asrock motherboard and the Asrock Challenger 9070XT. I'm a bit worried about power spikes.

I totally agree with you. If it's a reliable PSU, you don’t need as much overhead. But be careful with cheap brands!
