It seems like a lot of my workday gets swallowed up by meetings, leaving me with less time to actually get coding done. I'm curious to hear from other developers: on an average day, how much time do you spend coding versus sitting in calls and meetings?

In my last job, it felt like I spent more time on the phone helping clients than actually coding. It got frustrating because we had so many deadlines but always seemed to be fixing issues instead of adding features. Good riddance when I moved on from that place!
Working at a small company, I'm usually coding about 99% of the time. It's a nice change from larger firms where meetings seem endless!
Put me in, coach! I love it.
I feel your pain! Thankfully, I only have about 2 hours of meetings per week. The rest of the time, I'm either coding or reviewing code, which feels a lot more productive.
I've definitely had days where it feels like I'm either on calls nonstop or buried in documentation instead of coding. Some days are just all meetings, while on others, I can dive into coding without interruptions. It really varies depending on the week and what projects I'm working on.
What do you mean by 'all meetings'? Are these just status updates or something more intensive?
When I was an individual contributor, meetings were a minor part of my day. Just a quick scrum and an occasional 1-on-1, mostly just to keep things on track.
Same here! It's great to focus on coding without too many distractions.
