How Much Wattage Do I Need for My PC Power Supply?

I'm trying to figure out what wattage power supply unit (PSU) to get for my PC setup. Here are my specs: CPU is an i7-10700F, the motherboard is an Asus B460M PLUS WIFI, the GPU is a 5060 with 8GB, I have 32GB of RAM (16x2), a 512GB M.2 SSD, a 1TB external HDD, and I'm using a 144Hz overclocked monitor. Any advice on how much wattage I should be looking for?

Using rough estimates, your CPU might pull around 100W and the GPU could be about 200W. So even a 500W PSU would technically work. But future-proofing is wise!

Honestly, I think you could stick with a 500W PSU for your current build, but if you're planning to upgrade, consider a higher wattage for flexibility.

Based on your setup, a power supply in the 500-600 watt range should be more than enough for your needs.

I'd recommend going for a 650 watt PSU just to be safe. If you're planning any future upgrades, an 850 watt PSU gives you some extra headroom without a huge price difference.

Considering your CPU can draw a good amount of power in turbo mode, I wouldn’t go lower than 650W for peace of mind. I’d say a 750W is a smart choice to ensure everything runs smoothly.
