How Reliable Are ChatGPT’s Responses?

I've found ChatGPT to be a really enlightening resource in my life, but I can't shake the feeling of doubt when it gives me wrong answers. There have been moments where I relied heavily on its advice and ended up making poor decisions. Recently, I tested its impartiality by asking it about a dispute I had, which I represented from two different perspectives. In both instances, it praised my arguments and defended my views fiercely, making it hard for me to see if the other side had merit. This is concerning because I want to use ChatGPT to gain clarity, not to inflate my ego. How much should I really trust its responses?

I use both ChatGPT and Grok for different views. GPT tends to give a lot of positive reinforcement, which can be helpful, but sometimes you need a more straightforward take. That’s where Grok comes in—I ask for the straightforward answer based on the info from both tools. It's about finding a balance.

I usually ask GPT for evidence-based insights and provide it with sources for my queries. I see it more as a research assistant than a decision-maker. For serious decisions, especially financial ones, I would never leave it to AI alone. It's a tool to guide my thinking, not a substitute for my judgment.

I've noticed that ChatGPT can be really hit or miss, to be honest. The accuracy often hinges on the quality of the information you provide. Sometimes you really need to give it context and specific details to get useful responses. If it's vague, it might miss the mark completely.

It really depends on what you're asking it. If you need solid, evidence-based info or something requiring more emotional nuance, I'd suggest being cautious. I wouldn’t trust it to provide ethical or moral guidance unless you've explicitly defined those parameters beforehand. It's not built for that.
