Hey everyone! I'm diving into ways to enhance the web browsing and development experience, and I would love to hear your thoughts on something specific. What do you think is the best approach for browsers to handle cookie consent popups and autoplay videos without causing issues on websites?

I see a couple of big challenges. For cookies, it's tough for browsers to figure out which cookies are necessary versus tracking ones. I’d love a UI showing what each cookie does, so I can just reject non-essential ones automatically. And for autoplay videos, I think browsers should ignore autoplay requests altogether; if a site can’t work without it, then that's a problem on their end.
In an ideal world, cookie popups wouldn’t exist at all. Tracking users should be illegal, so no need for consent banners. For autoplay videos, if a site breaks because the browser blocks autoplay, that's on the site. We need standardized tracking consent methods so users can manage their preferences more smoothly. There are some plugins helping out, but they only work on certain patterns, and that's not enough.
For cookie popups, I think they need to be standardized better. The law says that the "reject all" option should be as easy to find as the "accept all" button, but many sites still try to trick users. As for autoplay videos, I believe they shouldn't autoplay at all unless it's really necessary. Maybe we could even have a user setting in the browser to control this better, but it shouldn’t be complicated.
Honestly, I’d love if cookies could be managed without me seeing any popups. Imagine just clicking a little dropdown near the URL bar to manage cookie settings for the current site. And relying on autoplay for videos? Yeah, just don’t do it. Better to have control over when they play!
