I recently bought a new SSD and I'm planning to install Debian or another Linux distribution on it. I'm not sure whether I should format the SSD using Windows beforehand or if I should just handle the formatting during the Linux installation process. Is there any difference between the two methods?

If you're planning to dual boot, you should still format the SSD during the installation. That way, you can set it up correctly for Linux.
It's best to format the SSD during the installation process. Linux needs different file systems than Windows, like EXT4 instead of NTFS, so doing it during setup is recommended.
