I'm updating my desktop PC and just got a bundle that includes an MSI B650 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard, a Ryzen 7 9700x processor, and Corsair CMK 32G DDR5-6400MHz CL36 RAM. I realized after my purchase that the RAM might not be compatible with the motherboard and CPU, leading to potential boot issues. I'm mainly using this PC for music production. I'm unsure whether to test the RAM at its advertised speed of 6400MHz first or to downclock it to a lower frequency and CL in the BIOS right away. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Music production isn't super demanding, so the RAM may not be as crucial. If you're looking for optimal performance for games, check if your kit supports a 6000MT/s XMP or EXPO profile. If it doesn’t, let me know and I can help with alternatives.
If you're worried about stability, it's probably best to drop the speed to around 6200 or 6000 with tighter timings. It should work fine without a hitch.
I would start by testing the RAM at 6400MHz first. If it doesn't work well, then you can always lower the settings later. It's good to check what it can handle out of the box!

It does support EXPO, thanks for asking!
