I'm planning to switch from Windows to Linux because I've been really intrigued by Arch Linux and its community. However, I have almost no experience with Linux at all. I've got all summer to dive into learning it, but I could really use some guidance on where to begin. Someone mentioned Hyprland as a good option, but I'm not sure if that's the best choice for a complete newbie. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Starting with Arch can be overwhelming. I recommend going for something like Linux Mint first, then you can transition to more complex distros as you gain confidence.
Just go with Ubuntu for now. Look up a Linux sysadmin learning roadmap—it's a solid way to get your skills up and running. Ignore the memes about Arch and Hyprland for now; you'll probably circle back to Ubuntu eventually anyway.
First, find a distro that suits your needs rather than just going with what others suggest. I use Arch and love it, but it might not fit you. Explore options like Debian or Fedora, and then see which desktop environment you prefer. I use Hyprland but wouldn't recommend it for beginners as it's pretty advanced.
I would suggest not starting with Arch if you're totally new to Linux. It can be quite complex for beginners. Instead, consider trying Linux Mint Cinnamon. It's user-friendly and a great starting point!
I disagree! The Arch wiki is super helpful, and if you take your time, you'll be able to install it even as a newcomer.
