How Should I Upgrade My PC Around My 3070?

I've built my PC about 5 years ago and I'm finally looking to give it an upgrade. My 3070 is still performing well, so I want to build around that. I've already started changing out the storage and RAM, but the new RAM has caused some crashes, and now my games aren't running smoothly. I need to test it further, but I can't determine if the RAM or the motherboard is the issue since they're from the same brand but different sizes. If I end up needing to reinstall Windows, I might as well go for a more significant upgrade.

I'm not looking to overclock or anything too extreme. I've been enjoying games like Cyberpunk and Elden Ring, even though they've been a bit demanding at times. I want to keep costs manageable but would consider future-proofing if necessary. While I've always used Intel, I'm open to suggestions for alternatives. Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, there aren’t any great budget options for a solid upgrade right now. The big upgrade ahead would be a Ryzen 3D CPU and DDR5 RAM, especially if you want the performance boost. Honestly, your current build still has plenty of life left, though! Just remember that lowering the reflections and shadow quality can really help your frame rates without needing a new GPU right away. And if you're noticing thermal throttling, consider repasting your CPU and GPU - it made a huge difference for my setup!

Good to know! I'm just trying to nail down this RAM issue first. By the way, how hard is repasting? I did my first heat sink this time around.
