How to Create a Global Holiday Calendar in Google Calendar?

Hey everyone! I've been tasked with creating a global holiday calendar that includes holidays from every single country. The requester wants each country's holidays to be set up so that users receive actual invites in their personal calendars. The goal is for managers to easily see their teams' holidays and be able to subscribe to this master calendar. What's the best way to automate the addition of these events without having to set everything up manually?

I’d suggest using Google Apps Script—that way, you won’t have to deal with the complications of OAuth2.

Google already has built-in holiday calendars for most countries, so instead of creating invites for everything, you could just have users subscribe to those. If you need custom control, consider using the Google Calendar API to automate event creation from a public holidays dataset. Sending invites to distribution lists might get messy and spammy quickly.

Honestly, this seems like a complicated approach. Why not just share the link to the existing Google Holiday Calendar? What you’re suggesting sounds like it could really mess up people’s calendars and their availability. Was this request made because a manager was confused about someone’s unavailability on a holiday?
