Do I need a bigger power supply for my new build?

I'm putting together a new PC with the following components: an ASUS B850M Plus WIFI motherboard, a Ryzen 9 7900X CPU, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and an AS Rock Challenger Arc 580 GPU. I currently have a 650W power supply (ASRock Pro-650G) that came with the GPU, but I'm worried it might not be enough after reading that I should ideally have 750-850W for this setup. My main focus is productivity, and I'm coming from a Zeon 2680V4 with a Sapphire Rx580, which ran fine on a 650W Corsair CX650M. I'm not a heavy gamer, mostly enjoying classic games and some Xbox online titles. Should I stick with the 650W power supply or upgrade to something larger?

Your CPU and GPU together draw a combined total of around 360W, and adding the rest of your components should stay below 100W. So, your current PSU should be perfectly fine for your build.

Honestly, from what you've listed, your current 650W PSU should be more than enough. The Arc 580 GPU pulls around 190W, and your Ryzen 9 7900X is about 230W. Adding everything else like RAM and storage, you should be under 600W total. I'd say stick with what you have!

I agree with this—sounds like you're well within your limits. Just make sure you have good airflow!

While it’s an unusual setup, you can definitely make do with the 650W. If you ever upgrade to something more demanding like an RTX 5080 or RX 9070 XT, then think about getting a bigger PSU, like 850W. Until then, you're good!

What makes it an odd combo? Just curious!
