How to Delete Phishing Meeting Requests in New Outlook?

I've noticed that some staff members are receiving meeting requests that turn out to be phishing attempts. While a few of these get filtered out, a couple have slipped through the cracks. The problem arises when a meeting request is marked as phishing; the calendar event still remains. If I attempt to delete the meeting, Outlook forces me to send a notification that I'm declining, and I want to avoid confirming receipt of the email. Is there a way to delete these calendar meetings without sending any response to the sender? I also want to avoid making all users switch to Classic Outlook since each version has its benefits.

This is definitely an issue Microsoft is aware of but hasn’t resolved yet. There aren’t any universal fixes at the moment. However, if your organization has a Microsoft Defender for Office 365 subscription, there are measures you can take to reduce these problems. I’d suggest checking out guides on enhancing calendar security or having your IT admin set up Mail Flow Rules that block external calendar invites while allowing specific exceptions.

You're right, the new Outlook has some serious issues! Unfortunately, it doesn’t allow you to silently delete these phishing invites without sending a decline response. A couple of possible workarounds are:
1. Right-click the meeting in your calendar, select 'Delete', and look for the 'Delete without notification' option (but fair warning, it doesn’t always work).
2. If you’re using Defender for Office 365, you might want to explore using the Calendar Quarantine feature or create rules to automatically remove any suspicious invites. But yeah, this is a known limitation that many are frustrated with.
