I'm helping a friend who is trying to factory reset his MSI laptop because it's stuck in a boot loop. He can access the blue screen with options during booting, but when he tries to reset, it prompts him for a password. We figured it might be his Microsoft account password, but that hasn't worked. We're confident we have the right password entered correctly. Is there a way to bypass this issue, or could we be entering the wrong password? Also, are there any other options to fix the boot loop so he can reset it using the settings app?

Your best bet is to try reinstalling Windows from a USB drive. The reset and refresh options can be pretty hit or miss—they might not even start or could end up making the problem worse. If you can get a USB ready, that’s usually more reliable.
Is it possible to create a USB installer using a MacBook? That's the only other computer he has access to.
